Some more samples...

Hi everyone..

Just a few more samples for our Demonstration Day here at Pinnacles on Saturday..

These have been made using the WE R Memory Keepers Candy Board..

Wasn't sure it was my kind of board, seeing as though the Tonic Square Cracker Die was such a hit last year!! But if you don't have an A4 Die Cutting Machine then this handy dandy board is a great alternative...

I think I have found my new (for now) obsession!!!

So many different ways of using it and sizes too!!
Thanks for checking us out.
See you soon.
Andy.

A little more prep.....

Hi everyone... Just finishing off a little more prep for Saturday's Die Cutting Demonstration Day here @ Pinnacles....
As I'm sure you are aware Dies are absolutely huge at the moment?! Not necessarily in their size (although some are whoppers!) but in the quantity of the designs and brands which are available. As nice as it would be to have one of everything, I think we'll need to win the lottery to fulfil that requirement!
The purpose of Saturday's demo is to get the most out of the dies which we already have or plan to have in the future...

So, today’s project uses another Die not only as it perhaps was intended to be used (as a Die Cut) but also as a stamp..
Using the same or similar image really ties the project together don't you think? In the past I have often used a Die and thought I need a stamped image to work with it. Now I know there are several companies that produce matching Die and Stamp combo's, but sometimes at considerable cost!! My stamp cost me pennies to make, so I can save the money for,.... erm more Dies I guess!!!
I'll be sharing how to do to this technique at Saturday's demo...
Thanks for checking us out.
See you soon.
Andy.

That's a 20% saving folks (usual exceptions apply).. See you there.. Andy.

9th Birthday Demo Day...

Hi gang. I hope you had a good weekend? Phew! mine was a blast and a blur! Not necessarily in that order!! Up at 4am on Saturday (don't ask!) to get things going for our 9th Birthday Celebration Demo Day, and then out until 2am the following morning and then back again at 8 to put things back to normal!! So I think more of a blur than a blast..
But looking back at the day from the pics we took, we all certainly had a blast. Thank you to everyone who came and joined us. We had 187 entries into our Birthday draw to win a Tim Holtz Ink Cargo case that it seemed silly just to pick one winner, so we picked two.. Well done ladies. We hope you enjoy using your new toy when you are able to come and collect it..
This simple yet effective little stamp was undoubtedly the star of the show. The stamp itself has been a fave of mine for many years, but we have been unable to source it for sometime. Until now, infact we wiped out our supplier of their entire stock when we realised it had become available again.. And yes, the whole lot sold out..
Not suprising considering it looks good in pretty much any colour of Memento Ink, especially in Black eh Chris!! whoda thunk!! Anyway, once again, thanks to everyone who shared our day with us and here's looking forward to our 10th Anniversary next year.. Although we have another fantastic Demo lined up for you all in October.. This is one you will not want to miss!! Watch this space... Thanks for checking us out, see you soon. Andy..

Demo Day, Distress Inks & Doggies...

Hi Blogland. I hope you had a good weekend? Before I share with you Today's project I thought I'd show you some of the pictures I took of our Demo Day with Lindsay Mason on Sunday..She brought along with her some wonderful samples for all of our crafters to look atand see what can be achieved with Alcohol Inks, Stamping and a little bit of imagination..She certainly kept our eager crafters enthralled with her techniques and dare I say "crafting banter".. An absolutely brilliant day.. I know I learnt a lot from Lindsay and dare say, so did everyone else. Can't wait to put all of the techniques into practice!!
Thanks so much for coming to visit us at Pinnacles Lindsay; we look forward to your next visit..Needless to say, one member of the Pinnacles Team slept through most of the day!! But she did enjoy all the cuddles in the brief moments she was awake..This puppy is certainly getting the love and attention she needs and deserves.....
Anyhoo... On with Today's project..Quite a simple one today...And although I have put a Christmas sentiment on the card, to be honest I think that it could be used for a Winter Birthday, or any other Birthday come to that!!I started off by colouring a piece of White card stock using Stormy Sky Distress Inkbefore embossing it with the Pine Tree Scene Embossing Folder.I then coloured from the bottom of the card stock using Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. Coming in from the bottom of the card stock potentially means that I will only get the Tree's as opposed to the Sky with the Green Ink.However, the foreground did catch a little too much of the Green Ink in my opinion, so I decided to cut it awayand mount it on to another piece of White Card stock to form a snowy foreground.Next, I matt and layered the scene onto some Silver & Blue Mirror cardbefore mounting it onto my prepared base cardand finishing off with my sentiment.
As I said before, although I have used it as a Christmas card it really could be for any occasion.. Which is great to get more than one use out of any piece of crafting equipment eh?!!
Thanks for checking us out..
See you soon.
Andy.

Happy 8th Birthday Pinnacles.....

Hi Blogland... Well, that was a weekend and a half!! We have just celebrated our 8th Birthday here at Pinnacles..
We always try and do something a little bit special for our Birthday and this year we had the wonderful Lynne Gilbert from Creative Expressions demonstrating for us... Now, we have had demonstrations before, I myself have even been known to don my demonstrators hat.. But, I have never before seen a demonstrator hold their audience in the palm of their hand like Lynne did on Saturday... She was demonstration techniques using Cosmic Shimmer Mists, Mica Powders, Stamping and Embossing... Perhaps products that we have all got but never realised their potential and how to get the most out of them?! Well, Lynne certainly pulled out all the stops with what she decided to demonstrate.. I myself learnt sooo much from her as did many of those who turned up to celebrate our Birthday with us.. If I heard "My head is buzzing with ideas" once, I heard it dozens of times.. And the empty shelves of the products Lynne was using is testament to her enthusiasm and creative skills..
Here are some pictures of the day...Sorry ladies, standing room only!!It's a messy job, but someones got to do it!!Someones lost their marbles..(You'll know what I mean if you saw this part of the demo)...Spritzing a Mask,Roll with Kitchen Towel,Eh viola!!This has got to be one of the funnest techniques ever!.. Shaving Foam..Adding some of the Cosmic Shimmer Mists, and a few more colours, mixing the colours with a tool from Maccie D's (McDonald's),In goes the card stock, and out it comes again,a quick clean,
and look what you get...
Thank you so much for coming Lynne and sorry that you didn't get a break all day!! I hope that you were able to get your "Inky Fingers" clean enough to hold your new Grandson for the first time on Sunday!!!
Thanks also to everyone who took the time to come and see us on Saturday. Thank you also for all the kind Birthday Wishes, Cards, Ballons, Cakes, & Prezzies. We look forward to seeing you all again at our next demonstration day on the 09th of October with..... Lindsay Mason.. Yep! She's on her way to Pinnacles...
Thanks for checking us out.. Back later in the week with some crafting..
See you soon.

Packing a punch!

Hi Everyone. Phew! My first demonstration day has now passed.. and did I enjoy it?.. you betcha!! will I be doing anymore? DITTO!!
I teach all the time, but I have never actually demonstrated to an audience before and certainly never all day to crowds of people.
We started at 10am and I did not move out of my seat until 4pm! as we had avid crowds watching all day long. I'm not one to sit in one place for very long, I always have something to do, sometimes I even find myself doing something you ladies can do quite naturally.. I believe it's called multi tasking!?
The only time I find myself sitting completely still is when I am on a plane.. The thing is, when you have plunged 25,000 feet because the plane cabin has lost pressure you tend to think it will happen again, to be honest if someone opens a packet of crips on a flight now I think the wing is falling off, so this is the only time I sit still, obviously now the only other time I remain seated is when I am demonstrating..
We had lots of questions and the uuuoooo's and aghhhhhh's are always great to hear when you all see something you like or another way of doing something.. There were so many different things I wanted to share with youincluding turning a corner punch into a circle punchor using a Punch for something other than it's intended use....The Butterfly Punch was always going to be a winner though and so easy to do once you know how.. I will upload more techniques from the day in the near future, including all the measurements I used.. The only thing is I know that there are more of the Martha Stewart Punches on their way to Pinnacles and I hope to see them at the Trade Show on Monday. Rest assured I will sort out the measurements for these new Punches in due course for you all..
Thanks to everyone for coming and for making it an enjoyable day.
Thanks for checking us out
See you soon

Getting ready..

Hi Blogland.. You may be aware that I have my first ever demonstration day on Saturday, and I want it to go smoothly. So I have been playing for a few weeks now in preparation for the day.
Punches are a great way to add accents to your projects, the thing now is that some of them require a bit of instruction on how to use them. So on Saturday this is my intention.. Not only to show them of in their simplest form but also to take them up a notch..I'm hoping I am well prepared, in fact I have produced some mood boards to show the punches off.Frequently you can see something on the shelf in it's packaging and it gives you no inspiration at all,but once you see what it can dothen the creative juices start flowing, well that's how it works for me anyway..
So boards prepared and samples a plenty I'm hoping for a great day. Here's just one of my samples for Saturday.
I took a piece of Mirror card and punched completely around the edge of the card stock with the Lattice Border and Corner Punch Combo from Martha Stewart. This needs to be done on a specific measurement of card stock, although I suspect with a bit of playing around and double punching you can punch on any sized piece of card, when I have the time I'll give it a try and let you know.Once punched, I measured in an Inch all the way round onto the back of the card and scribbled on the piece of card which I wanted to cut away..Top Tip alert!! Always cut into the area you are getting rid off, so if you come off of the line you are not cutting into the piece of card you wish to keep.. OK, I know that is probably easier for us right handers than you lefties but it is achievable...
Once the frame is cut out, mount it onto some more card to give a slight raised or even embossed effect.I took a simple peel off of a wedding car and placed it on Black Mirror Card and cut around it.This was mounted onto the frame with foam pads for dimension. I also applied a peel off sentiment, again in Silver.. Colour on Colour has a great effect I think, almost looks as if you have embossed the words...I took the base card and cut into all of the corners both back and front, inside and out.. I'll show you on Saturday how to do this for those who are coming to the demo, and to those who aren't, then in a future post. Finally mounting the frame and car onto the base card, a bit of ribbon and a bow, a few pearl gems and voila!!
Hope you like it and I look forward to seeing those of you who are coming to the demo on Saturday.. be kind to me...
thanks for checking us out.
See you soon.
