Inspired by a child's game...

Hey Blogland.. It's Tuesday, so that means another offering from the Cuttlebug Spot Design Team. This week we were asked to design something under the theme "Inspired by a Child's Game"... My head was buzzing with this one.. As kids, Joanne and I were always playing board games during those wet days in the Summer Holiday's whether she wanted to or not!.. From the everyday Monopoly to simple card games. Animal Snap was always a favourite of mine. It's the same as normal Snap with a difference. Everyone picks an animal and instead of saying "Snap" when you match someones card you have to do their their animal noise instead. The more players the better.. In fact it's even more fun now, if you've had a few drinks! One of my friends Daughter's has her First Birthday this year, and in anticipation of this I made this card for her with the Child's game theme in mind. Nursery Rhymes are a sort of game right?I started off by covering a piece of White card stock with some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.
I then embossed the image using the Brick Embossing Folderfrom the new range of folders from Creative Expressions.I then went over the whole image again, this time using Pumice Stone Distress Ink to bring out the brick work. One thing that really inspired me to do the card in this particular way was that I found this sheet of card stock in the shop. It's by Graphic 45 and is double sided and is all about Children's Nursery Rhymes. Result! So I cut out the Humpty Dumpty Rhyme and matt and layered it in some Gold and Copper Mirror card to complement the embossed wall background.I also matt and layered the embossed imageand layered the Two together.Next, I cut the Humpty Dumpty Image from the Nursery Rhymes Cricut Cartridge @ 4". using Copper Mirror card as the solid shadow at the back and Gold Mirror card as the detailed image at the front. I also added some googly eyes to give the image some character.I made by base card using some Pink dotted card stock, adding a Pink Ribbon and Bow..Mounted the embossed image onto it,finishing off with the Humpty Dumpty image.
And there you go... Hop on over to the Cuttlebug Spot to see what all the other members of the Design Team have come up with using this theme....
I also just wanted to say Thank You to everyone for their kind wishes regarding my Uncle. The Funeral was Yesterday, and although it was a difficult day, for my dad especially, the service was a true celebration of my Uncles life. Although a little cold, the weather also held off which was a blessing. So Thank You once again...
Enjoy your day everyone, and see you soon.
Andy.

  2. Great card Andy and yes I agree with you, nursery rhymes are a game - normally a singing/skipping/playground type game (possibly quite an English/British thing). Love your Humpty.
