Hi Blogland. Today's post is my first project for the Cuttlebug Blogspot Design Team. You may be aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? At some point in our lives I'm sure that we have all been touched by someone who has had to deal with the dreaded "C" word? This Month, and all year through, we celebrate you all!!!
Pop on over to the Cuttlebug Blogspot to see what all the other DT (Design Team) members have been up to, or check out their individual blogs located down the right hand side of your screen. So, here is the project I came up with. I wanted to portray a sense of freedom, lightness or even fun.I cut out some Bra shapes from the Forever Young Cricut cartridge. I didn't need the Bikini bottoms which which would also be cut out with this image, so using the contours button on my Gypsy Machine I hid the elements that I did not need to cut out, saving time and more importantly PAPER!!!!Each image was embossed through the Cuttlebug Machine using a great NEW Embossing Foldercalled Flutterby.I then cut out some Ribbon shapes from the Pink Journey Cricut Cartridge and embossed them with the Tim Holtz Cracked Embossing Folder.BLOG CANDY ALERT!!!!! As today we are "thinking pink" I have decided to give away some "pink blog candy", by way of a Pink Journey Cricut Cartridge. Check out the Blog Candy sidebar to see how you can win.
I put all of my cut and embossed images to one side and got on with my base card. This cloud card from Kanban has always been a firm fave of mine and was perfect for this project.
I punched 2 holes in the card, added an eyelet to each hole for strength and threaded some cord through the holes to form a washing line. From a separate piece of card I cut out some shapes from the New Nestabilities Labels Fourteen. To me, when the dies are on their side the look like clouds, which fitted in with my project perfectly.Once cut, I embossed the images using the Polka Dots Embossing Folder.I cut a few inspirational words from the Pink Journey Cartridge ( Believe, Courage & Survivor)and applied them to my cloud images.Adding some foam pads to the backs and applying them to the project. Before adding the embossed Bras, and finally the all important Pink Ribbons...The card has already gone to a good home and a deserved recipient, who herself has been through her own personal battle..
Have a great day everyone, and thanks for checking us out. Oh, and don't forget your Blog Candy...
See you soon
Andy.
I was just over at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog looking at all of the wonderful creations and I have to say that your card was my favorite! What paper did you use to cut the bras from? You did a great job on this card!

Andy, In my opinion you achieved all you wanted to achieve with the card including a nice home.
ReplyDeleteI love your thinking and the materials you chose, especially the shiny one for the bras and ribbon icon.
I bet it is really nice to have at hand anything you need for a project and have at hand too all the newest goodies for our hobby. Lucky You! :)
I am glad we have a man around us :P...so welcome to our world and more important to our team.
A big hug for you Andy.

ReplyDeleteHi Andy, nice to meet you and wonderful that we will be working together in this great team of Designers! You must be in Heaven working in your craftshop every day!!!! You lucky man!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful card although I would have used a softer background, less "loud" clouds, believe me it is not a sneer, because I love what you have create!!!! But the message you are trying to give is faded away because of the clouds...I believe Jonie Mitchell is singing about it..."But clouds got in the way" LOL
See you soon Andy!
love
Jannie

ReplyDeleteHi Andy what can I say that hasn't already been said about this card. It actualy brought tears to my eyes when I saw it for real in the shop. I think you captured the mood exactly, the sky and clouds looking so bright and alive. The sentiments so very apt, the washing line with all the bras gentley swaying in the breeze. Do you get the idea that I love this card with a capital S......g. You should be very proud of yourself. I hope I am lucky enough to win this cartrdige. If I don't then it is a definite purchase for me.
