"Flippin Eke"

Hi Blogland. How's it going? For a moment there I thought Spring had sprung.. The sun is coming up earlier in the mornings and staying just that little bit longer in the afternoons.. And then wooossshhh, back to the rain today...Joy!! Still, life goes on..
I got the chance to play with some new stamps today..
La Pashe have developed their range of products featuring the "Flippin" characters to now included 8 of their best selling characters in both "Flippin Men" & "Flippin Women" as clear stamps.... Pro Markers & Copics at the ready for a colouring frenzy..The weather today is pretty apt for this card I think.. wet, wet, wet!!!Firstly I stamped the Bath time image onto White card stock using Tuxedo Black Momento Ink and then coloured the image in using a selection of Copic pens, sorry I didn't note down which colours I used... tut, tut.. I Know..Then using the large classic scalloped circle Nestabilitie I cut around the image and also cut a piece from some Silver card, layering them together, but slightly off setting them.I love this sentiment which comes with the set. Rub a dub dub, I'm off to the pub! Couldn't be more apt for me if it tried.. Again this was stamped onto some White card and matted with some of the Silver card..I had some bubble effect paper I have had my eye of for a while and thought that this would work pretty well with the Bath time image.. The problem was taking a picture of it, the whole sheets actually looks like the bubbles at the top right (White), not Grey like the ones in the bottom left...Must get myself onto a photography course!!!
So, on a roll I started a few more images:Flippin Cheers...Flippin Peace... This is a play on the Flippin Peace Christmas card I did last year..And finally Flippin D.I.YI used the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder called Wen's Window, although I'm going to change the name to Wen's Door because that's what I used it as..I applied some Peel Off Crosses as Hinges and a small Peel Off circle as a door knob.This was mounted onto some complementary Green card stock and the D.I.Y'er in turn was mounted onto that..So, now just have to get the rest of the set of Flippin Men done and then start on the Flippin Women...

I'm back!!!

Hi everyone, How are you all today? As you can see by the title of today's post... I'm back..!! March, well, February, well the whole of the year so far really has been a blur.. Every time I think I have caught up with myself another thing is either on the horizon or comes along to derail my plans. I guess that is just called "LIFE" I suppose, and rather that than it be dull and boring doing the same old same old.. Oh, I have just thought of something else I was meant to do.. Mental note to self!!Anyway, on with today's project.
I'm still in my Green phase at the moment. I have had this pack of backing papers staring up at me on my desk for the best part of a Month.. I knew from the day our rep showed me it that it was going to work it's way into my stash and today's the day it came out of it's cellophane wrapping and got used.. Well a little piece of it anyway.
With new toys to play with by way of the new Distressing Inks from Sir Tim Holtz, I'm sure he won't mind the honorary "Sir" I have bestowed on him, even though he's not British and not entitled to it, or is he? Answers on a postcard please.. or save a stamp and just leave a comment... Also new to my stash were some of the New Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.. Yikes!! Classy design or what! Well done Sizzix, way to keep up with Cuttlebug..Firstly I covered a piece of White Card stock with one of the new Distressing Ink Colours, Crushed Olive.Then ran the card stock through the Cuttlebug with the Fruits & Vines (656505) Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.I then went over the Embossed image, again with the Crushed Olive Ink.Then, picking out just the berries I went over with Victorian Velvet (TIM27195) Distressing Ink.
I finally got to use my Papermania Verde Paper pack. I chose probably the simplest background I could find.. The others were either too dark or too fancy for the project.I also added a small punched border using the Martha Stewart Two Dot Scallop (M284015) Border Punch. Yes, I know! Mirror card again..I matted my embossed image onto the same Green Mirror card I used for the punched border.I cut out an image using Nestabilities Labels Five. I used the size which would suit the size of my stamped sentiment. I also coloured this piece of card with the Crushed Olive Distressing Ink. However, when it came to adding a matt for this shape it didn't come out as I expected. Either I was missing the next sized Nestabilitie up or the size that I had was exceptionally large as the distance between the Two images looked odd.. Anyway, I cut out the next label I had and stuck the Two together. I then went round with some scissors and "by eye" gave the smaller image a much close edge..Finally adding some Crystal Stickles to the berries to complete the project..
Yay!! my fist project post in Two weeks.. I'm determined to pick up the pace now, so keep an eye out... It's good to be back.

Gone AWOL!!

Hi Everyone, sorry for the distinct lack of posts recently.. What with one thing and another in the busy life of Che Pinnacles, time has eluded me yet again!!! Just to let you know once Club Members Weekend is over (this weekend) I should be able to get some more me time and get creative again!!! Keep an eye out...

Vintage, Art Deco

Hi Everyone, We all know how popular Art Deco themed crafting is in the UK at the moment. It's not every one's cup of tea I know, but most people seem to like it, if not for it's glamour or colour scheme but also the opulence of the period. For all of our followers around the world if it hasn't hit your stores yet then I'm sure it will soon...
So, this week in our lessons it's all about Art Deco.. I wanted to ring the changes a bit. So instead of going for an Art Deco image either from a Topper or some Decoupage I wanted to start from scratch and use elements that depict the period apart from the glamorous fashion.You know me, Inks are my favourite thing to use and Alcohol Inks especially.
As they work best on non porous materials such as Acetate & Glossy Card Stock I suspected that they would work easily as well on Peel Offs as obviously they are non porous also.
I'm sure we've all seen films from the golden age of Black & White and associate this colour range with the Art Deco Period. However, Pastel tones and tints and vibrant colours were also big at this time..
So for this project I have Incorporated both..I took a transparent peel off of a Dragonfly and applied some Stream coloured Alcohol Ink directly to it.As it is alcohol based it dries pretty much instantly,therefore allowing a second, more stronger application of the same colour to be applied straight away.I then added highlights using the Silver Mixative Alcohol Ink.As I said it dries pretty much instantly so you can work on them straight away.In this case that meant peeling the Dragonflies from their backing and sticking them onto some White card stock and cutting them out.I then took a small Square of White Glossy card and applied Pitch Black Alcohol Ink to it.It required a couple of coats to achieve the right tone of black I wanted.
I then took a Peel Off which had a grid on it.This one was of a Sudoku Grid, but I have used a crossword grid also...This was stuck directly onto the now Black card stock and cut out.I then cut a border into some Black Mirror card, (I know, Mirror card again!!!!) using the Art Deco Martha Stewart Around the Page Set and put the card together,adding a sentiment in an Art Deco Font I had printed from my PC.Pleased with how this turned out I made one with a bit more Silverand also chanced my arm a bit my veering away from the Black/Silver/White theme with some stronger colours.I think these bolder colours really accentuate the opulence of the era and if nothing else is another way to replicate the period.

Whooppie.... Hi everyone, I am one very happy, and also lucky boy! After 4 months of waiting I finally got my hands on my Gypsy for my Cricut machine.I know, and have always known that it is going to revolutionise the way I craft and use my Cricut machine for the better... Off now to read the instructions and have a play, well may be not read the instructions, just play... and then read the instructions...

Everyone loves a bargain!

Hi Everyone, Greetings from one very exhausted Pinnacle Crafter! We had a little bit of a clear out over the weekend by way of our Rummage Sale... And what a clear out it was.You accumulate so much over the years and it was time to get rid of some of the products which just needed to find new homes rather than just sitting in a box..As is the case with the Paper Crafting industry new products and designs are always coming out..So it was out with the old, and not so old and in with the new...
Looking back I can't believe it took soooo long to set up the room we were using here at Barleylands. Our workroom, where we usually have our shop events, was never going to be big enough and now seeing one, how many bargains we had to offer and two, how many of you all turned up, perhaps even the room we were using was not big enough, but we will learn from this one and make the next one even better..You see it just got busierand busierand busierand busierand busierand busierand busierand busierand busierThis is the point I had to stop taking pictures and jump on the till..
So, all in all it was a cracking, albeit exhausting weekend and you certainly cleared us out.These are the empty boxes we sent off to the recycling centre..
But all this could not have been acheived without the help, love, support and friendship of Lyn & Lin,Pauline & Irene..
