You are My Sunshine!

Hey Blogland, and how are you today? I'm hoping that today's project will pop a little bit of sunshine into your day! As, if the weather where you are is anything like it is here in the South East of England you just might need it... A typical British Bank Holiday Weekend with cold winds blowing in from the North is forecast and the chance of rain! But the gardens need it!! yeah whatever!!!So here we are with today's project.. Sunflowers are reminiscent of late summer, but I suspect the bright Yellows and Golds would give any recipient a lift at anytime of the year and suitable for both a male or a female card...I took at A4 piece of White card and scored it at 2", 4" & 7 3/4"and folded it to form a concertina.I then cut a piece of cloud card @ 4" x 8 1/4"this was stuck to the back panel of the card.I then cut a piece of wall printed card @ 2" x 8 1/4"and stuck that to the front panel of the card.I then took some Sunflower adhesive borders, which are a new product featured in the New Do Crafts Essentials Promotion, and stuck them to the front panel. I think they look so effective against the wall background.I then cut 3 different length strips from some grey boardand coloured them Green using a Green Permanent Pen from Do Crafts, although a Copic or ProMarker Pen would work equally as well.I punched a Beech Leaf from some complementary Green card stock and stuck it to the back of the flower stem, I used the Sunflower Elements toppers to finish off the whole Sunflower.Although slightly difficult to see, the leaf punch not only cuts but it also embosses which adds an extra dimension to the project.Once I had stuck the 3 Sunflowers to the back of the card I finished it off with a Simple sentiment from the Build a Sunflower Stamp Set, adding a few gems to complete the card..

Love is in the air...

Happy February everyone.. Where did January go? One minute I was celebrating New Years Eve and the beginning of 2010 and the next minute... whoop there it is! we're in February. I can officially state though that Christmas is well and truly over.. And how do I know that??.. The Quality Street tin now only has those penny toffee's left in it, so that's it for them. I do have plans for the tin though.. Watch this space!!
I was planning to post over the weekend, but I'm afraid I just did not have the time. For those who aren't aware, it was Pinnacle Crafts Club Members Discount Weekend.. and boy was it a Discount Weekend!With walls stripped bare of goodies from one end of the shop to the other..Our Martha Stewart Punches were filled up 4 times and we were still left with bare walls!! Oh well, that gives me a great reason to go off shopping myself with the wholesalers to replenish and find some more goodies for you all..So, now we are in February and it's the 1st of the Month it's Blog Candy time again.And the lucky winner drawn at random is DAGBIRD.. I hope you enjoy them..So, as February is the Month of love I wanted to share a card I made recently. Here's how it was made.
Take an A4 piece of card and measure in from one side and make a mark at 2", 4", 8" & 10" and score. On the outside score lines measure 2" from the top and 2" from the bottom and cut across the card.Fold your card up as shown. I also added some mats of Red Mirror card (yes, I know Mirror card again!)I embossed the Forever & Always Sizzix Folder again onto some Red Mirror card,the whole impression was far to big to go on the card so I trimmed it downand matted it on some Gold Mirror cardand applied it to the side of my Quad Fold card.Which I think is pretty effective!I then punched a Red and Gold Heart using Martha Stewart Lace Heart Punch and mounted the Red onto the Gold using Pinflair Glue.The Gold gives the Heart a bit more dimension and stops the Red Hearts getting lost on the card..The far side of the card was looking a bit empty ( a bit like the shelves in the shop at the moment! not for long though!!) so I took one of the Cuttlebug Embossing Borders embossed on Red and matted onto Gold Mirror card to add a little more interest..

Happy 4th of July

Hi Everyone... As Today is the 4th of July our lesson in store @ Pinnacle Crafts is everything American. As a lot of our products come in from the States we thought what better way to celebrate today other than to play with them. So today is all about Tim Holtz and his Alcohol Inks, Distress Inks, Stickles, Stamps & Grunge Board.

Above is one of the samples I prepared for the class.. It's called a Quad card (because of the number of folds). The Stars on the Blue piece of card were made with one of the new YES NEW Cuttlebug folders.. Check them out here.
Here's how to make the basic shape for the Quad card...

I used an A4 piece of card which when folded up will fit in a DL envelope (4"x8.5")
Take a piece of A4 card, along the long edge measure and make a mark at 2",4",8"
& 10". Score down the card so that you have 4 folds.
On the 2" score line measure down 2" and up 2" and make a mark. Repeat this on the 10" score line.
With a Ruler and a Craft Knife line up the 2" marks on the 2" & 10" score lines and cut across the card. Repeat this on the bottom set of marks.
To be honest that is as simple as it is, you just now need to fold and decorate your card...

So as I said it is pretty simple once to know the general idea, this is my take on it and I have seen other measurements using 12"x12" card stock. So go and have a play....
